Some personal records biking through the open savannah country into the Rift Valley yesterday. Sue, Mark, Nic, Ed, Bill, Jan, Jamie & Bill biked 94km to reach Mto Wa Mbu where we dinned out local style in the street side restaurant. Today is a rest day for the legs as we head into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Baz, Gemma & Joseph.

Tutaonana from Dar es Salaam

We biked through Dar es Salaam yesterday in time to get to Kipepeo Beach in time for Ali and Becs to have at least four swims in the Indian Ocean... (the Indian Ocean is a tad warmer than the South Pacific Ocean on New Zealand's South Coast).  Harper had just two swims, but cycled over 52km the day before - not bad for a nine year old!  It has been great to witness the locals in their finest and celebrating Eid al Fitr (the end of Ramadan) over the last couple of days; a fantastic end to a Kenya & Tanzania cycle tour with two wonderful families.  Tutaonana Harper, Katherine, Michael, Jenny, Ali & Becs from Baz, Gemma & Joseph

A great evening in Amboseli National Park

We biked across the dry bed of Lake Amboseli yesterday and made our way into Amboseli National Park. Wow! Close (very close) ups with giraffe and elephants, and a lion chasing gazelle less successfully... A beautiful night and back into the park for another look this morning... before getting back on our bikes and cycling north towards Nairobi.

Back on the bikes - Dar es Salaam to Nairobi

Back on the road and tracks again! Jean Paul, Stefan, Jill, Odete, Paul and Andrew biked the coastal route into historic coastal Bagamoyo Town today. Freshly caught local Kingfish steaks are currently being cooked in a coconut curry sauce by Joseph & Gem to refuel the crew as I write... gotta go!!  Baz
